New Delhi: Despite Supreme Court order halting constructions of memorials in Lucknow, Mayawati government is going ahead with the constructions, alleges petitioner Mithilesh Kumar Singh.
The Supreme Court had on September 8 stayed the construction activities and on September 11 issued show cause notice to Uttar Pradesh government asking why the work is going on despite the stay.
Mayawati government, while tendering apology, said only cleaning work was being carried out.
On Wednesday, the petitioner filed his reply which says that Mayawati govt should be hauled for contempt as the work is still going on despite the stay.
He alleges that Mayawati government has split the projects in Lucknow into various projects and is carrying out the work, claiming such constructions are not covered by SC order.
The reply also says stories of violation of court order carried out by NDTV and print media are correct and Uttar Pradesh government's claim of removal of garbage from the memorials is false.
The Supreme Court will take up the case on October 5.
