J Dey murder: Cops chase Rajan aides for clues
Mumbai: Following the revelation that it was Chhota Rajan behind MiD DAY journalist J Dey's killing, the Mumbai police are on the lookout for every man thought to be a Rajan aide so they may question them about the underworld don's motive.

The manhunt comes as cops aim to extract every minute detail about Rajan from every source, in the hope that they may be privy to the gangster's motive behind the murder.

They are speculating that Rajan may have spoken to any of his associates in the city about why he wanted Dey dead.

Said a senior official, "Since it has been established that Rajan had given the supari for Dey, there are chances that he spoke to someone about his motive.

We need to verify the same and so we are trying to question each and every associate of the Rajan gang." He continued, "This shows that his gang is active here and we need to take necessary actions against them."

Mumbai police have already questioned a number of people from Chembur and Tilak nagar area known to have links with Rajan.

Police investigation has found that the accused had received the money for the killing from Chembur and Nalasopara, a clear indication that Rajan cohorts are present in the city and have been in touch with him.

"Rajan himself must have called someone to provide the money to the shooters. Hence we have been trying to question everyone connected to him," the official said.

In case of DK Rao, a former Rajan associate, the police said that he hasn't been seen around for a while and that they want to question him.

Himanshu Roy, joint commissioner of police (Crime), said, "We had spoken to him before the case was solved and the seven accused were arrested. But we want to question him again. However, we are still looking for him."
