Jammu:
The Indian Army has successfully managed to rescue at least nine more people trapped in avalanche-hit areas of Jammu and Kashmir. While seven people have been rescued from Kulgam, two others were evacuated from Shopian.
So far, 14 people have been killed in avalanches, house collapses and incessant rain in the state. Unseasonal snowfall has also caused a major dip in temperatures across the valley.
Among those killed in the avalanches are two army jawans. Naik Vijay Prasad and Dharmindra Singh of 82 field regiment died after an avalanche hit their camp in Kargil sector of Ladakh region.
Bodies of both the personnel have been recovered.
Heavy snowfall across Kashmir has paralysed normal life in the valley, snapping its links with the outside world and hitting power and water supply.
