Jammu:
The controversial Inter-district recruitment bill was passed today in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly in its amended form by a voice vote. The members of the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) created a ruckus in the house by raising slogans and throwing chairs. The party is opposed to the passing of the bill in amended form which gives 8 per cent reservation to the scheduled caste.
The BJP has given the call for a Jammu bandh on Friday on the issue of the bill.
The bill was introduced by State Law and Parliamentary Affairs minister Ali Mohmmad Sagar in Assembly on April 5.
Opposition PDP and ruling National Conference members had protested together and staged dharna in the well of the House and staged walkouts from the Assembly on the day of its introduction and several times after that as well.
PDP and Independent MLA Er Rashed Ahmed were marshaled out from the House twice over the issue.
