Kupwara: The encounter between the security forces and the militants, alleged to be Lashkar-e-Toiba agents, in Kupwara district got over after eight hours, when all the five militants were killed in the fierce gunbattle between the two sides.
Their bodies have not been found as yet. One soldier was killed too and five were injured, including a captain.
According to sources, police was tracking a group of militants for the last 15 days.
Last night, five of them entered a house in Lolab in Kupwara. There were four people in the house - two children, a man and a woman. While the children and the man came out early this morning, the woman was rescued at around 9 am.
