It's a crime that shocked Hyderabad. The husband of Jaipal Reddy's niece Kiran has been arrested after she was found dead under suspicious circumstances at her home in Hyderabad.
On her father's complaint, a murder case was registered as it emerged Kiran was smothered to death.
Twenty-six-year-old Kiran Reddy was declared 'brought dead' when an ambulance wheeled her into Hyderabad's Apollo Hospital on Saturday morning. She and her husband had returned home late after a party hosted by her brother on Friday night.
Kiran is said to have slept in a separate room and in the morning she was reported to have been found unconscious.
"The entire autopsy was videographed and the inquest was conducted by the revenue official. Currently, questioning of suspects, that is in-laws, husband and brother-in-law is underway. Further action will be taken based on circumstantial and scientific evidence," said Stephen Ravindra, West Zone DCP, Hyderabad.
A dermatologist, Kiran, was the niece of Union Petroleum Minister Jaipal Reddy. She got married five years ago to Chaitanya Reddy, also a doctor. The couple has a four-year-old daughter. A case of death under suspicious circumstances was initially registered but on the complaint of Kiran's father, it was subsequently changed to murder.
This murder involving high-profile families in the upmarket Jubilee Hills area has shocked Hyderabad. The post-mortem and inquest report has not yet been made public but sources say the doctors have indicated that Kiran Reddy was smothered and had suffered head injury.
