Srinagar:
In the wake of "fake" Twitter accounts operational under the name of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, the state government today made it clear that Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed did not have any account on social networking sites.
"The Chief Minister's secretariat has made it clear that Mufti Mohammad Sayeed doesn't have any official account on social media, including Twitter and Facebook," an official spokesman said.
A Twitter account under the handle @CMOJK has been operational for the past couple of months, but the spokesman said it was "fake".
"Some people are running fake accounts in the name of the Chief Minister on social media and it has been brought to the notice of police," he said.
"One such account is operational on Twitter with the link https://twitter.com/CMOJK. A fake account with the link https://twitter.com/jkinformation is also being operated in the name of JK Information on Twitter," the spokesman added.
