Jammu: The Jammu-Srinagar national highway was closed for the third consecutive day today, an official said.
As a result, the Amarnath Yatra portion from Jammu to the Kashmir Valley remained suspended for the last three days.
"Rain and landslides blocked the Jammu-Srinagar national highway at Kheri in Udhampur district today (Monday)," a senior official of the state traffic department told IANS in Jammu.
No 'yatri' (pilgrim) was allowed to move towards the Valley from Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu because of the highway closure, he said.
"The highway was restored for traffic for some time yesterday (Sunday) afternoon, but had to be closed today because of fresh rain and landslides in Kheri stretch of the road."
"Highway clearance operation is on and we are hopeful the highway will be reopened later today," he added.
