Patna: Janata Dal (U) legislator Anant Singh was today remanded to judicial custody by a district court in a seven-year-old murder case.
Chief Judicial Magistrate of Patna, Bharat Singh, sent the MLA from Mokama to custody till July 15 in the case relating to the murder of one Sanjay Singh in 2008.
The legislator was brought to the CJM court for production from Beur jail in the case which had been lodged with Kotwali police station in 2008.
Mr Singh is in jail in a case of kidnapping of a builder Raju Singh under Bihta police station of rural Patna district in November last year.
During hours of search at his official residence following his arrest in the kidnapping case, the police team claimed to have stumbled on evidence in connection with another case of kidnapping of four youths one of whom Putush Yadav was later found murdered on June 17.
The MLA while returning from the court told the media that RJD president Lalu Prasad and expelled Madhepura MP Pappu Yadav have "hatched a conspiracy" against him for the sake of vote in the coming Assembly election.
