Barmer: Senior BJP leader and former foreign minister Jaswant Singh may be slapped with a case for violating the Election Commision's Model Code of Conduct.
Jaswant was caught on camera on Tuesday distributing cash in his son Manvendra Singh's constituency of Barmer in Rajasthan.
The EC has sought a report from the Barmer district magistrate on the incident.
Jaswant Singh has denied any violation of the moral code of conduct. He defends the act of distributing money as a family tradition .
"It's a family tradition to help the needy. I am not a candidate, so how can I be guilty of violating the EC code?" said senior BJP leader Jaswant Singh while explaining his stand.
