Jind:
All-India Adarsh Jat Mahasabha chief Pawanjeet Banwala today claimed the group has received a notice from government warning it against going forward with a fresh quota agitation.
"We have a constitutional right to protest peacefully and no notice can snatch that right from us. The government notice is like the murder of democracy and the constitution," Mr Banwala said.
"The way the government has been warning us to stay away from protesting, it seems there is an Emergency-like situation," he said.
He said there would be a meeting of office-bearers of the Mahasabha on Wednesday, during which they would devise future strategy and discuss the notice.
Sedition cases have been falsely lodged against the Jats who raised their voice against the anti-people policies of the government, he claimed.
This proves that the Jats are a patriotic community which the government wants to label as traitors, he said.
