The jawan was posted at the gate of Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie
Dehradun:
A jawan of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force, deployed at the gate of prestigious Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, shot at two of his colleagues on Friday evening.
While one of them - jawan Surendar Lal - died, the other one Akhtar Hussain was seriously injured and referred to Dehradun for further medical needs.
Police said the accused jawan Chandrashekhar fired at his colleagues after an argument. Sources said disciplinary action had been initiated against him a day before.
After shooting his colleagues, Chandrashekhar fled into the forest near the academy; he still has his Light Machine Gun with him, the police said.
The police has begun combing the area for the accused who joined the force in 2012.
ITBP Director General Krishna Chaudhary said that he has ordered a court of inquiry into the incident and directed for the "immediate" replacement of the unit from the task.
The ITBP guards the premier institute which was established in 1959 in Mussoorie. The force has close to 80 troops drawn from their 34th battalion posted here.
