AIADMK supremo and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa would lead the party's 44th foundation day celebrations at Kothagiri in Nilgiris District on October 17.
"Party General Secretary Jayalalithaa would garland the statue of Puratchi Thalaivar M G R in Kothagiri Town Panchayat in Nilgiris District on October 17," a release issued in Chennai stated today.
She will also release the party's foundation day souvenir and distribute sweets to party workers and the general public, the release added.
AIADMK headed by J Jayalalithaa was founded in 1972, by former Chief Minister M G Ramachandran also known as MGR, and will be entering into its 44th year on October 17. The party split after the death of MGR in 1987.
Usually, the foundation day celebrations are held in the party headquarters in Chennai and this will be perhaps the first function held outside Chennai.
In another party release, Jayalalithaa said that the foundation day public meetings will be held for three days from October 18 to 20 across Tamil Nadu.
Also, such meetings would be held in other states including Karnataka where the party has organisational presence, the release said.
