Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa is celebrating her 64th birthday today in a rather green way.
After asking cadres to not have any ostentatious celebrations, Jayalalithaa has launched a massive afforestation programme. Sixty four lakh saplings would be planted across the state to increase the state's green cover from 21 per cent to 30 per cent.
Indigenous species have been chosen for this and two lakh saplings are to be planted in each district.
