JDS leader HD Revanna, named in a sex scandal case alongside son Prajwal, has filed for a pre-arrest bail a day after he received a notice from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in connection with the case.
The appeal was filed at the Sessions Court in Bengaluru and the case has been adjourned for tomorrow.
A huge cache of explicit videos and photographs, allegedly belonging to Prajwal have gone viral on the social media, following which the Karnataka government constituted a Special Investigation Team on the request of Karnataka State Commission for Women to investigate the matter.
As per the complaint, the victim has claimed that Prajwal Revanna and his father HD Revanna had sexually assaulted her. Prajwal is the grandson of party supremo and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda.
His father, HD Revanna, who is also an accused in the case, said, "I came to know that notice has been put; I'm ready to face anything; I'm ready to face SIT."
Son Prajwal, who is abroad, has sought time to appear before the SIT in connection with the alleged 'obscene video' case. The state government has issued a lookout notice against Revanna Junior.
The matter has also devolved into a huge political row, with the BJP in alliance with Mr Devegowda's Janata Dal Secular in Karnataka.
The state leaders of the BJP have distanced themselves from the matter and Prajwal Revanna has been suspended by his party.
His uncle and party chief HD Kumaraswamy has said there could be no question of forgiving anyone who has committed a crime.
