New Delhi:
The Jet stalemate could be inching towards a possible resolution as conciliation proceedings between agitating Jet pilots and the airlinesmanagement are on before the Chief Labour Commissioner in Delhi.
The first session of meeting is over where all three parties - the Labour Commissioner, the pilots and the management sat together. Sources told NDTV that pilots were very keen to pursue the issue of union so the commissioner was holding a separate meeting with pilots to find a way out.
The management says it's very difficult to find a solution to the crisis and that they are trying hard.
The pilots' union president Girish Kaushik may address the media at 3:30pm in Delhi.
The pilots decided to attend the meeting after their talks with Jet Airways chief Naresh Goyal on Thursday evening.
Their meeting with Goyal apparently arrived at a tentative draft agreement but it's not yet known whether this agreement is acceptable to all parties concerned.
The draft, sources say, reflects concerns of both Jet management as well as pilots.
Following the deal Jet management is likely to reinstate sacked pilots, sources have told NDTV. Congress MP Sanjay Nirupam mediated in the presence of Harish Salve.
Reportedly, the basic sticking point between both sides is over whether or not to retain the pilot's union.
Jet is said to have agreed to take back the sacked pilots. But Naresh Goyal has said the union must be scrapped, since it impacts his foreign investment. The pilots have refused.
A middle path has been suggested - that the Registrar of Companies be the final arbiter. The National Aviators Guild's registry has been challenged by the management. This matter is meant to be heard by the registrar.
Meanwhile, on the fourth day of the strike on Friday, total 242 Jet flights were cancelled till afternoon out of which 208 were domestic and 34 international.
Jet is accepting bookings for Saturday and the day after, but can't say whether flights will take off.
