Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das and his Cabinet colleague Saryu Roy today appeared before a local court in connection with a case of alleged violation of prohibitory orders during demonstration in 2008.
Mr Das and Mr Roy, the Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Minister, appeared before Judicial Magistrate NK Vishwakarma and recorded their statements, pleading innocence.
They were among several BJP leaders who had been facing charges including violation of prohibitive orders on May 9, 2008 when the party had called statewide agitation against the then Madhu Koda-headed UPA government.
The next date for hearing is on January 21.
