Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das today appeared before a court in connection with a case involving violation of the electoral code of conduct in 2009.
Mr Das arrived in the steel city here this morning and headed for the court of Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate GK Tiwari where his statement was recorded under section 313 CRPC (power to examine the accused), his lawyers Nand Kishore Mishra and Devendra Singh said.
The court has fixed June 11 for the next hearing, Mr Singh said.
Besides Mr Das, the then President of Jamshedpur Mahanagar committee of BJP Chandrasekhar Mishra and a party activist Amar Kumar Sharma also appeared in the court, they said.
Another accused Balakram Bhat had died in course of the trial.
According to a FIR lodged on the basis of statement of an official of Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee, it had been stated that Mr Das, then a BJP candidate from Jamshedpur East Assembly segment, had opened a party camp office beside a temple without prior permission from East Singhbhum district administration in violation of the code of conduct.
