Mumbai:
Financial Technologies and Multi-Commodities Exchange promoter Jignesh Shah, arrested on Wednesday in the Rs 5,600 crore NSEL scam case, has been lodged in the same lock-up that once housed 26/11 Mumbai attacks terrorists Ajmal Kasab and Abu Jundal.
The ground-plus-three-storey building within the premises of the police commissionerate houses Mr Shah's interrogation room-cum-bedroom. It is the same lock-up on the first floor where 26/11 terrorists Ajmal Kasab and his associate Abu Jundal had been lodged during investigations at separate times.
There are no fans or pillows inside the lock-up, a police officer said.
Mr Shah was served food in the afternoon and night, besides tea in the morning and last evening, the officer said, adding that, "He was given rice, roti, dal and vegetable curry."
Mr Shah did not speak much in the lock-up, the officer said.
The lock-up is considered to be one of the safest places to lodge an accused, as no civilians or visitors are allowed
