Reports submitted by officials of the forensic department probing the death of journalist Nirupama Pathak suggest that she was murdered.

Twenty two-year-old Nirupama was found dead at her home in Jharkhand's Koderma district April 29.

Earlier on May 9, a senior forensic expert from AIIMS had pointed out ambiguities in the autopsy report of Nirupama, suspected to have been a victim of honour killing, and had sought setting up of a medical board for further probe.

Nirupama's mother was arrested soon after post mortem reports revealed that the Nirupama had died due to smothering. The mother was released on a three-day parole on May 9 to attend the last rites of her daughter.

Nirupama's boyfriend Priyabhanshu, who was charged with rape and abetment to suicide, has now moved the High Court asking for a CBI inquiry into her death. Priyabhanshu, a journalist, has also accused the police of tampering with evidence in the case.
