Corruption, land-grab and abuse of judicial office are among the 16 charges framed against Justice PD Dinakaran, the former Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court. Dinakaran is facing impeachment proceedings in the Rajya Sabha for alleged corruption.
Other charges include violation of human rights, illegal encroachment, destruction of evidence and many more. He will have to respond to them by the April 9.
Justice Dinakaran, as Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court, was recommended for being appointed as Supreme Court Judge in August 2009. But after land-grab allegations were leveled against him, he went on leave and his elevation was stopped. Thereafter he was shifted to the Sikkim High Court as Chief Justice.
