Justice will be given to the people of Andhra Pradesh, says Sushil Kumar Shinde: Highlights

"I don't think there is any possibility of going back on Telanagana," Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde said.

New Delhi: Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde today addressed the media and touched upon several issues including the ceasefire violations at the border and formation of Telangana.

Here are the highlights:

On Telangana:
  • GoM will submit a note to the Cabinet which will then take a decision and send to the President. The president will send it to the Assembly
  • In this case the resolution was tried earlier but it is in abeyance by the state itself since the Cabinet has passed an order for the GoM
  • All points will be taken into consideration and justice will be given to the people of Andhra Pradesh 
  • I don't think there is any possibility of going back on Telanagana
  • I cannot commit on whether or not we will bring President's Rule

    On Samba attacks, infiltrations:
  • We had information about infiltration and we had sent an alert
  • It wasn't particular about Keran sector but infiltration as a whole
  • I have asked for a report on from J&K police
  • There are some lapses we are inquiring into it

    On his letter to chief ministers:
  • The letter I wrote, which is being misunderstood by certain political parties, was regarding alleged harassment of Muslim youth.
  • We aren't saying this. My letter has misread and misinterpreted. We've received references from NGOs, etc.
  • We haven't said Muslims, if someone wants to misunderstand then what can we do

    Home Secretary Anil Goswami:
  • With regard to fishermen, we have a difficulty with Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
  • We have entered into an agreement with Pak that all inadvertent straying are reported to the other side and we try and secure the release of fisherman.
  • We are trying to enter into a similar agreement with Sri Lanka.
  • 3 tier coastal security in place. Coastal security has come into focus after 9/1, some states are lagging behind in implementation
