New Delhi:
The teenage accused in the Mercedes hit and run case in Delhi has got bail from the Juvenile Justice Board, so he can take his college entrance exams.
The student, who had turned 18 four days after the accident, in which a 32-year-old marketing executive Siddharth Sharma died on April 4, is being tried by the Juvenile Justice Board.
But the board had denied him bail last week calling him a "repeat offender" and an example of "bad parenting". The teenager had been fined thrice last year -- twice for speeding and once for parking wrongly. At the time of the accident, he was driving the car at 80 km per hour, the police have said.
In the Mercedes hit and run case, CCTV cameras caught Siddharth Sharma being flung 10 feet into the air after being hit.
The boy's father has been charged with abetting the crime by allowing him to drive before the legal age.
If found guilty, the teen -- who was out celebrating with friends after his Class 12 exams when the accident took place -- will be sent to a juvenile home for two years.
Sharma's parents have demanded that he be tried as an adult so he cannot "get away with lighter punishment" on a technicality.
