Mumbai:
NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal, who is presently in judicial custody, has written to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis requesting him to ensure that the 125th death anniversary of social reformer Jyotiba Phule is observed in a "befitting manner".
"I see that no steps have been taken so far to observe the 125th death anniversary of Phule in a befitting manner," he wrote in the letter sent to the Chief Minister today.
"It is late but you can still take necessary steps," he said.
Mr Bhujbal had recently written to Mr Fadnavis, requesting him to start the diversion work of the Manjarpada water project.
On March 31, the special court for Prevention of Money Laundering Act cases in Mumbai had extended the judicial custody of Chhagan Bhujbal and his nephew ex-lawmaker Samir Bhujbal till April 13.
The ED has filed two FIRs against the former Maharashtra PWD minister, his family members and others under anti-money laundering laws, based on FIRs filed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau, to probe alleged irregularities in construction of 'Maharashtra Sadan' in Delhi and the Kalina land grabbing case in Mumbai.
