Kaiga nuke exposure: Nothing to worry about, says PM

New Delhi: A day after reports of radiation exposure at the Karnataka nuclear plant, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has reassured that there was nothing to worry about.

The Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL) also said there was no security breach at the nuclear plant. It had called the incident and insider's job and an act of mischief.

Four people had fallen ill after consuming water contaminated with the radioactive tritium at the Kaiga plant. The cooler was located within the secure premises of reactors 1 and 2.

The contamination was detected during a routine check on the workers for radiation exposure. The urine samples of four employees had high levels of tritium, but within permissible limits. Authorities insist all are safe.
