Chennai:
On the day of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's launch of the Clean India Mission, actor Kamal Haasan responded to his call to select celebrities to join the clean-up challenge.
The actor posted a video online thanking the Prime Minister for including him among the nine celebrities who in turn have been asked to nominate nine others each.
Referring to his social work over the last twenty years through his fan clubs that evolved into social service groups, Mr Haasan welcomed the move as "a recognition of my work."
Mr Haasan went on to say that he considered the mission to be a nation building exercise and that rather than nine more people, "I'd invite nine million to invite another nine million".
In reference to his other peers who Mr Modi has invited, the likes of cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, actor Salman Khan and Baba Ramdev, the film legend said, "All my peers too were recognized for their work and what they are capable of".
