Family members of the Kamduni gang-rape victim today met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to demand a speedy trial in the case.
"They (the family members) met the Chief Minister and demanded a speedy trial in the case," Food Supplies minister Jyotipriyo Mullick, who had accompanied the family members, told PTI.
Asked whether the victim's kin had agreed to accept the offer for a government job and monetary compensation, Mr Mullick said, "The family has said they will inform us about it tomorrow."
A 19-year-old college student was allegedly gang-raped and murdered on June 7 at Kamduni village in North 24 Parganas district.
The incident created a furore in the state and was condemned in all quarters.
