New Delhi: DMK MP Kanimozhi, lodged in Tihar Jail for her alleged involvement in the 2G scam, today moved a Delhi court seeking orthopaedic mattresses and a pillow in her prison cell.
Special CBI Judge OP Saini directed the jail superintendent to consider her plea as per the jail manual.
The 43-year-old daughter of DMK chief M Karunanidhi could be seen massaging her shoulders and neck as the court adjudicated her plea.
Kanimozhi has been in jail since May 20 on charges of hatching a criminal conspiracy along with former Telecom Minister A Raja and others in the 2G spectrum scam and accepting illegal gratification from the beneficiaries of the scam.
Meanwhile, an electronic scanner was installed today in the court premises following the judge's permission given on a joint plea by five accused including former Telecom Minister A Raja, his former personal secretary RK Chandolia, Unitech Wireless (Tamil Nadu) Pvt Ltd, its Managing Director Sanjay Chandra and Swan Telecom Pvt Ltd, for expeditious supply of various prosecution documents to them.
The scrutiny of documents is likely to be completed by July 14 with the judge warning both the prosecution and defence counsel that a fine may be imposed in case of a delay.
The trial in the case is likely to begin from July 16.
