Karandlaje back in Yeddyurappa cabinet

Bangalore: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa expanded his 28-month-old ministry by inducting six more ministers, raising the strength to 34.
    
A Narayanaswamy, C H Vijayashankar, C C Patil, Shobha Karandlaje, V Somanna and S A Ramdas took oath as ministers of cabinet rank at a brief function held at Raj Bhavan.
    
Governor H R Bhardwaj administered the oath of office and secrecy to the new ministers.
    
Besides Yeddyurappa, some of his cabinet colleagues and BJP National General Secretary H N Anantkumar were present on the occasion.

Among the sworn in ministers, Narayanaswamy, C C Patil, Shobha and Ramadas are members of the state assembly while Vijayashankar and Somanna are MLCs.

Shobha Karandlaje, a confidant of Yeddyurppa is re-entering the cabinet eleven months after she was dropped following pressure from ministers and mining magnets G Janardhana Reddy and G Karunakara Reddy.
    
The Reddy brothers and their close associate and minister B Sreeramulu and MLAs loyal to them had insisted on Karandlaje's removal as part of a compromise to end their revolt demanding Chief Minister's removal last year.
    
Similarly, Somanna, who had the ignominy of demitting office following his failure of win the by-election from Govindarajanagar assembly constituency, is also returning into the ministry.
    
Vijayashankar and Ramadas are also first timers into the ministry, apart from Patil.
    
Janardhana Reddy, who suffered a loss of face after Yeddyurappa ignored his warning not to axe his supporters, Shivanagouda Naik and Goolihatti Shekar was present at the swearing-in ceremony.
    
"We are happy with the party decision. We go by whatever decision the party takes", Reddy told reporters.
