Karnataka backs Right to Education Act

Bangalore: A day after Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati criticised the Centre for imposing the Right to Education Act and said that the Centre should fund it, there's some positive response.

Karnataka government has come out in full support of the Act and said that all loopholes regarding how the states can go about funding the project can be discussed.

"We welcome this Act wholeheartedly. After a long time the Centre has taken this decision. We accept this. There are many issues to be sorted out. What is the state's share, and the Centre's share? Whether state can afford such amount, but we will resolve these through discussions across the table," said Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri, Education Minister, Karnataka.
