Bellary: Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, along with Home Minister P Chidambaram and Sonia Gandhi, on Monday went for an aerial survey of the flooded areas in north Karnataka.
Speaking to NDTV after landing the Jindal Airport in Bellary after the survey, Yeddyurappa said that he was 101 per cent hopeful of some major help from the Centre.
Yeddyurappa said that the state government would build 200,000 houses for flood affected people with some private help.
"Several villages in Cauvery and Krishna basins need to be permanently shifted," he said.
The chief minister will go on a 'padyatra' on October 7 in Bangalore to raise funds for the relief operations.
He also informed NDTV that government staff have been requested not to go on leave for the next two months.
