Bangalore:
The three BJP MLAs who were caught watching porn in the Karnataka Assembly today appeared before the members of the committee probing the scandal. What is ironic, though, is that the committee too consists of all the BJP MLAs.
During its meeting today, the committee asked for more time from the Speaker before submitting the report. It will meet again on March 15 and question more MLAs.
The committee has sought another week's time before submitting the report. The speaker will take a final decision.
The Speaker of the Assembly had appointed the committee with seven MLAs. However, it now comprises only four BJP MLAs. The Opposition has been boycotting the probe, demanding that the three members be disqualified.
The ex-ministers - Lakshman S Savadi, CC Patil and J Krishna Palemar - were caught by a private TV channel named Suvarna News which captured their X-rated viewing on camera while covering the proceedings of the Assembly. The ministers had to resign, and cannot enter the Assembly till the committee completes its inquiry. Last week, the committee questioned a section of the media for shooting what the MLAs were doing and later telecasting it.
So far, Karnataka allowed TV channels to cover assembly proceedings, a rule it has changed after the scandal erupted.
