Karwar: There is more monsoon trouble for Karnataka as five-six hills have caved in, in the coastal Karwar district due to incessant rains on Saturday.
One such hill near Kaduvada has collapsed on houses, trapping over 20 people. Operations are on to rescue them.
But the rescue workers are finding it very difficult to work as access to the area has been cut off.
Meanwhile, Konkan Railway trains have stopped near Goa as tracks are submerged in water. Also, Mangalore-Mumbai National Highway No 17 is blocked heavily as these hills have fallen on the road.
Rain has been heavy, to the amount of 500 mm or 50 cm in one single day, which is unprecedented. Thousands of houses collapsed in the entire district.
