Bangalore:
After being dropped from the Karnataka Cabinet over a compromise formula between the Reddy brothers and Chief Minister Yeddyurappa in October 2009, Shobha Karandlaje is back again as the only woman among the 34 ministers.
Her resignation had made the Chief Minister even breakdown before the media. Now, ten months later, the tables have turned. The Reddy brothers, the main reason behind Shobha's ouster, seem to have been sidelined .
So whatever happened to the 'who holds the reins of the party' controversy?
Despite much negativity around, by going ahead with his own pick for the cabinet and also including Shobha, Yeddyurappa sent out a clear message to the Reddy camp that this time he cannot be arm twisted.
However, it was indeed surprising to see the Reddy brothers at the swearing in ceremony. Only a day before, they had openly supported the three ministers- Arvind Limbavali, K Shivannagouda Naik and Goolihatti Shekar- dropped before the reshuffle.
"Finally whatever the party will take the decision .. we are the party workers. We have to respect the party decision," said Tourism Minister Janardhana Reddy.
The change of mind was quiet amusing to see and believe. But what brought about the change, the party President KS Eshwarappa's mediation or the BJP high command's decision to back Yeddyurappa?
"Hundred per cent BJP okay, all the cabinet okay, we are all with our leader Yeddyurappa, we will develop Karnataka," said KS Eshwarappa on being asked the question.
