Who is Saeed Bhai?
What many want to know is the identity of Saeed Bhai, the Pakistani handler who Kasab kept referring to in his confession. If it turns out to be Hafiz Saeed, it will be a big blow to Pakistan as it has been maintaining it does not have enough evidence against him.
Speaking to NDTV, Hamid Mir, executive editor of Pakistan's GEO TV says Hafiz Saeed is referred to in the country as Hafiz Sahib not Hafiz Bhai.
The big question now is whether his confession will bring about an early end to what was expected to be a long drawn out trial. The options before the court are many:
- It may accept Kasab's confession at face value and declare Kasab guilty.
- Another option before the judge could be to determine if the confession was made under duress.
- The court may also ask the prosecution to provide evidence to back confession
But the prosecution is wary of Kasab's confession. They say there are several unanswered questions.
