The Bombay High Court has begun hearing Ajmal Kasab's appeal against his death sentence.
Kasab is the only terrorist caught alive during 2008's terrorist attacks in Mumbai. 166 people were killed by ten Pakistanis who sailed to Mumbai from Karachi.
He was found guilty of waging war against India on May 6 by a special court in Mumbai. He is imprisoned in a special bulletproof and bomb-proof cell at the Arthur Road jail. For security reasons, he will participate via video conference in his trial at the High Court.
23-year-old Kasab, who was seen in court on a big screen at 11 AM, was seen smiling and yawning. At times, he scratched his head, played with the button of his prison uniform and stretched his arms.
Public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam argued in court today that the 26/11 attacks were a "classic case of sponsored terrorism, borne out of deep hatred against India."
During his earlier trial as well, Kasab had giggled during different hearings. In its verdict, the special court that found him guilty said that he showed no sign of remorse.
