Mumbai:

In a development that may help the prosecution in nailing Pakistani gunman Mohammed Ajmal Kasab in the November 26 terror attack case, a photojournalist has tabled before a special court a couple of photographs clicked by him which showed Kasab firing from an AK-47 rifle.

Kasab was seen laughing when special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam showed him the photographs.

While Kasab gestured with his hands to ask the prosecutor who the person in the photograph was, Nikam pointed a finger at him as if to say that he will fix him.

"The photographs are clinching evidence against Kasab as they would corroborate the testimony of eye witnesses. The camera has done the job of an eye witness," said Nikam.

Judge M L Tahaliyani took on record the memory card as well as the photo frames of Kasab clicked by Sriram Vernekar when the gunman was getting down the stairs of a foot over bridge outside the Chhatrapati Shivaji railway terminus.

Vernekar had captured Kasab in his camera from window of his office on second floor of nearby Times of India building.

Earlier, another photojournalist Sebastian D'souza had submitted to the court photographs of Kasab firing at people. Footage of CCTV has also been viewed in the court as evidence.

Emotional scenes were witnessed in the court when another eye witness broke down saying he had seen Kasab killing his brother in cold blood.

Bharat Vaghela, who lives in a hut near Cama Hospital which was one of the sites of the terror attacks, broke down when he said he had seen Kasab killing his brother.

"My brother has small children. Who will look after them?" an emotional Vaghela said wiping tears.

When asked by judge M L Tahaliyani to regain composure, he said, "I have seen with my own eyes this man firing at my brother. How can I forget?"

However, Kasab did not react when identified by Vaghela. Vaghela said, on November 26 last year, he was standing outside his house talking to some friends when they saw two persons approach from a distance who began shooting at them.

"I then rushed towards my hut, closed the door and told my mother what had happened," he said.

Vaghela told Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam that by looking through a gap in the frame of the door he could see Kasab standing outside his hut and saw the gunman fire at the adjacent house where his brother, Thakur, lived.

"I heard cries from the hut and after some time both gunmen went towards Cama Hospital. I came out and saw my brother lying in a pool of blood and his five-year-old child crying," Vaghela said.

Vaghela said he rushed his brother to the J J Hospital where he was declared dead. A friend Bhagan Shinde, with whom Vaghela's brother was talking earlier, was also brought to the same hospital but was also declared dead on arrival, Vaghela said.
