New Delhi: As the news came in that a crashed helicopter has been sighted in Arunachal Pradesh, Home Minister P Chidambaram said it cannot be confirmed yet whether this is the missing helicopter that had Arunachal Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu and four others on board.

"We have some information which is not encouraging....three bodies have been found," the Home Minister said. He added that the crash had been spotted from "a great height" and that the nearest Army post in the mountainous and heavily-forested area has been alerted.  A search party has been dispatched on foot to the site of the helicopter crash.

"We are keeping fingers crossed...let us wait for official word," he said.

The helicopter used by Mr Khandu went missing on Saturday as it was headed from Tawang to Itanagar.  The helicopter crash sighted today lies in the same flight path.
