Thiruvananthapuram: There is another blow for former Chief Justice of India (CJI) Justice K G Balakrishnan as the Kerala government has asked his brother K G Bhaskaran to resign as the state's advocate, or go on leave for allegedly amassing wealth beyond his known sources of income.
This comes a day after the Left Front government ordered a probe into the assets of Balakrishnan's son-in-law PV Sreenijan, which allegedly multiplied from Rs 25,000 to many crores during Balakrishnan's tenure as CJI.
"We have received a complaint, it has been forwarded to the Vigilance department under the Home Ministry to be investigation seriously," Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said.
Neither Justice Balakrishnan nor his son-in-law is willing to speak on this issue, but pressure is on Justice Balakrishnan to quit his present post as Chairman of NHRC, especially now with the Left government going after all Balakrishnan's men.
