Delhi:
Stepping up pressure on the Centre, MPs from Kerala today decided to meet the Lok Sabha
Speaker Meira Kumar and the Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari on Friday with a plea that
an all-party delegation be sent to the state to study the "panicky situation" in the area surrounding the Mullaperiyar dam.
A meeting of MPs from all parties also decided to continue their protests both inside and outside Parliament.
"People of four districts of Kerala are sitting on a water bomb. No one in the government seems to be paying any heed to our plea to settle the Mullaperiyar dam issue. So, we have decided to approach the Lok Sabha Speaker and the Rajya Sabha Chairman with a plea that an all-party MPs' delegation be sent to Mullaperiyar to understand the reality," Kottayam MP Jose K Mani said.
