Wayanad Landslide LIVE Updates: At least 63 people have been killed and several are feared trapped after massive landslides hit Wayanad in the early hours today as heavy rainfall continued in Kerala.

250 members of the Fire and Rescue, Civil Defence, NDRF, and Local Emergency Response Teams are involved in the rescue operation. An additional team of NDRF has been directed to reach the spot immediately, the officials said.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan assured all possible rescue operations to be coordinated in the landslides in Wayanad.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed anguish over the loss of lives in landslides and assured Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan of all possible help from the Centre to deal with the crisis.

The prime minister announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the families of those who died. The injured would be given Rs 50,000.

An Indian Navy team from the Ezhimala Naval Base in Kannur is being sent to the district in Kerala to assist in the rescue operations at Chooralmala that was hit by landslides on Tuesday morning, following torrential rains.

The Navy team is being despatched, at the request of Chief Minister Pinrayi Vijayan who sought the help of the Navy's River Crossing team, according to the Chief Minister's Office. Army and Air Force have also been mobilised for the rescue operations in the area, which have been hampered as a main bridge has collapsed in the town of Chooralmala.

Wayanad landslides: JP Nadda condoles deaths, requests Kerala BJP workers to help in rescue efforts
Union Minister JP Nadda expressed condolences for the lives lost in landslides in Kerala's Wayanad and wished a speedy recovery for those injured in the mishap.

He mentioned that Kerala BJP President Surendran is at the incident site. Nadda added that he has requested all BJP workers in Kerala to help in rescue efforts as per the guidelines and support those in distress.

At least 54 people have died and 250 people have been rescued and shifted to temporary relief camps on Tuesday following a series of massive landslides that struck the hilly areas of Meppadi, Wayanad district, in the early hours of July 30.

The Kerala Health Minister provided a detailed overview of the situation and instructed for precise tracking of available hospital beds in the affected areas.

Minister George recommended setting up temporary hospitals if necessary and emphasised the need to evaluate the mortuary systems at existing hospitals, including the utilisation of mobile mortuaries.

Wayanad landslides: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan directs all Kerala govt events to be postponed
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has ordered postponement of all state government public events scheduled for Tuesday following landslides that hit Wayanad and claimed the lives of at least 43 people.

As per the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority, landslides occurred in Meppadi panchayat, Vythiri taluk of Wayanad district, at around 3.49 am on July 30.

According to officials, around 70 people have sustained injuries in the massive landslides.
