The jailbreak accused arrested was allegedly involved in a triple murder case in Gurdaspur
Patiala:
The Punjab Police today claimed to have arrested Gurjeet Singh Ladda, a key accused in the Nabha jailbreak case.
He was arrested during a vehicle checking drive near Mirajpura village on the Rajpura-Chandigarh road, they said here.
The police said that Ladda was traveling in an SUV that had a fake registration number. A pistol, a few cartridges and some fake identity documents have been seized from him, they said.
Ladda is also wanted in other crimes, including kidnapping and murder, Senior Superintendent of Police S Bhoopati told reporters here.
He along with some of his accomplices had masterminded the Nabha jailbreak, in which two terrorists and four dreaded criminals had managed to escape from a high security prison here in November last year, the officer said.
Barring Vicky Gounder and Kashmir Singh, four of those who had escaped have been arrested, he said, adding that Ladda was involved in a triple murder case in Gurdaspur.
In a sensational jailbreak, a group of armed men had stormed the Nabha prison in police uniforms and managed to free six prisoners.
Harminder Singh Mintoo and Kashmir, both terrorists, and gangsters Dhothian, Gounder, Gurpreet Sekhon and Neeta Deol escaped from the maximum security jail at Nabha in Patiala district on November 27 last year.
