Some Jat leaders, accompanied by Khap representatives, held talks with Haryana government on June 17.
Jind, Haryana:
A state-level meeting of representatives of various khaps (caste councils) of Haryana was held in Haryana today to discuss the issue of Jat reservation and it was decided to resume the quota agitation of the community on September 13.
It was decided in the meeting to resume the Jat quota agitation "peacefully" and to hold meetings for the purpose in various parts of the state, said khap leader Sube Singh Samain.
It was also decided that the agitation would be resumed at the last such meeting on September 13.
It was alleged in the meeting that the Centre and the Haryana government "failed" to honour their promise to khaps and Jat organisations and it was decided that representatives of the community will not go to Chandigarh or Delhi for dialogues with the governments in future, rather the latter now would have to initiate talks with them.
The venue of the September 13 meeting would be decided at Kohla village in Sonipat district on August 14.
National convenor of Sarv Khap Panchayat Tek Ram Kandela presided over the meeting.
