New Delhi:
Slamming the leakage of the draft Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) report on 2G scam as a "gross breach of Parliamentary propriety", BJP on Friday said its contents appeared like Congress documents where attempts have been made to save its leaders including the Prime Minister.
Speaking to NDTV, senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley said he and most members hadn't even received the copy of the report. Highlights of his interview
- I have not seen the JPC report yet as officially most members have not received it till today afternoon.
- Fact that it was leaked to media means it is a propaganda document.
- This draft if it ever takes the shape of a report makes it clear that present govt is not interested in bringing out who is responsible.
- The king who choses to be misled doesn't deserve to be the ruler.
- The first-come-first-serve criteria was not followed; it was first pay first serve.
- The BJP has members in JPC and when they are part of such committees, BJP members act as normal people and not as party members.
- Consensus which is arrived at by sacrificing truth is not worth it.
ON COAL REPORT
- CBI has ceased to be a reliable agency - both fear and favour are used to control what the CBI does.
- The present government owes its existence to the CBI.
- Law Minister can only advise on aspects of law.
- I am keenly waiting the CBI affidavit.
- If the affidavit has truth then it will hold together, if the affidavit resorts to falsehood it will fall apart.
On NARENDRA MODI
- At least a public debate has started in India on who should be the candidate for one party - this is the Indian version of the US primaries.
- Parties take their own time; there is a dynamics of a decision -making process.
- The NDA meeting scheduled is for the Parliament's functioning agenda.
