Shimla:
The Kiratpur-Manali National Highway which was closed due to a massive landslide near Hanogi in Mandi district, about 180 Km from in Shimla, has been opened for light vehicles.
The Highway was opened last night but fresh slides blocked the road again, following which the Public Works Department (PWD) engineers and workers resumed road clearing operations in the early hours today, officials said.
The road has now been opened for light vehicles, they said.
However, the risk of falling of boulders and landslides continue to haunt the commuters, thus few people ventured out to travel through the landslide spot.
The vehicular traffic was diverted via Bajaura and Kotla and all the stranded vehicles have left for their destination, the officials said.
All precautions are being taken to ensure that no mishap occurs, district officers said.
