Kolkata: Top Maoist leader Kishenji's niece Deepa will arrive here from Andhra Pradesh along with Telugu poet Varavara Rao on Friday afternoon to identify the slain rebel's body.
Kishenji, a politburo member of the banned Communist Party of India-Maoist, was killed in the jungles near Jhargram in West Midnapore district on Thursday.
The body has been kept in a hospital in Jhargram
But Varavara Rao demanded that the body be brought to Kolkata.
"The authorities should embalm the body and preserve it. It should be brought to Kolkata for identification by Deepa. The postmortem should also be done here," Rao told IANS over phone from Hyderabad.
Kishenji's elder brother was ill while his mother is a cancer patient. Deepa lives in Peddapalli town in Andhra Pradesh's Karimnagar district.
