New Delhi:
"Knit India, do not split India," said Congress MP from Vijayawada, L Rajagopal, on Sunday. Rajagopal had resigned over Telangana earlier this week.
"All 225 congress MLAs will oppose the resolution in the assembly. Andhra will speak in one voice. Telangana means region of Telugu speaking people. We don't want to weaken the Telugu speaking states," he said addressing a press conference.
There seems to be no solution in sight for the political crisis in Andhra Pradesh.
While 20 ministers from coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions threatened to resign on Saturday, ministers from Telangana are meeting on Sunday to decide if they should quit too.
Chief Minister K Rosaiah completed 100 turbulent days in office presiding over a cabinet that is virtually split down the middle.
Pressure is mounting on the chief minister, even though he says he was against moving a resolution on Telangana in the state assembly and that the Centre had paid no attention to his warning.
In a 294-member Assembly, 135 MLAs across parties have already resigned and there could be more resignations. Of the 135 MLAs who've resigned so far, 79 are from the ruling Congress itself.
