New Delhi: Kumar Vishwas and his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today laughed off reports that he is joining the BJP and will contest the Uttar Pradesh assembly election next month.
This is not the first time that Mr Vishwas has been compelled to deny what he calls rumours that he is joining the BJP.
Reports this morning said the satirist-politician is in talks with the ruling party and may join it after both agree on where in Uttar Pradesh he will contest the polls beginning on February 4.
Mr Vishwas, 46, used humour to deny the reports and also took pot-shots at the BJP.
Mr Vishwas quoted "sources" to say Prime Minister Narendra Modi is joining the TDP or Andhra Pradesh's ruling Telugu Desam Party. Other AAP leaders followed up with suggestions too - the more outlandish the better.
"I have information that after the Uttar Pradesh election, the PM is joining the Congress. He has also met with Rahul Gandhi," quipped Manish Sisodia, the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi.
Another minister, Kapil Mishra wondered, "Is Amit Shah joining Aam Aadmi Party?"
Kumar Vishwas had another parting shot.
