Bangalore:
JD(S) leader and former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy ended his fast at the Freedom Park in Bangalore on Sunday.
Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa sent a three-member ministers team comprising Home Minister R Ashoka, Labour Minister B N Bacchegowda and Housing Minister V Somanna, which called on Kumaraswamy and requested him to call off the fast.
This is a letter written by the JD(S) leader to Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa today:
To July 11
Honourable Sri BS Yeddyurappa
Chief Minister
Karnataka Government
Vidhana Soudha
Bangalore
Respected Chief Minister,
I have received your letter sent through your Ministerial emissaries while I was observing fast unto death demanding a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on the pictorial "charge sheet," released by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alleging that my family had amassed Rs 1,500 crore wealth beyond our known sources of income.
Thanks much for expressing concern over my health. I broke the fast to honour the advice by several thinkers, litterateurs, artistes, social workers and people of the state who had expressed similar concern like you towards my health.
Ministers Sri R Ashoka, Sri V Somanna, and Sri B N Bachche Gowda called on me and expressed the government's concern. I thank them through you, for this.
The sum and substance of your letter is very alarming. In democracy and parliamentary administration, politicians should ultimately remain committed to their statements and the advertisements they publish.
Making unnecessary allegations for the sake of politics and later escaping from them does not bring any grace to any political party.
Unfortunately the response from you, over my demand on allegations of your party, is not satisfying. I express grave regret for this.
Should one face the allegations made by a national political party politically? The summery of your letter that allegations are common in politics brings disgrace to the position of the Chief Minister.
Allegations should be made only if they could be digested with documentary evidence placed before the people. I deny all charges published in the hand book brought out by your party and still demand that there should be an investigation.
All my charges, I made against you, are supplemented with documentary evidence. I am not an escapist. I expect a similar commitment from your side.
"Satyameva Jayate" -Let the truth Prevail
Thanks and Regards
