Lakhisarai (Bihar):
A fierce encounter is on between the security forces and Naxals in Poona-Dih village in Bihar's Lakhisarai district.
According to reports, 11 jawans have been injured in the encounter. They have been brought to the Sadar Hospital in Lakhisarai.
The Naxals attacked search parties of the police comprising Bihar Military Police, State Auxiliary Police (SAP) and the CRPF. They raided a major Naxal hideout in the hills of Sheetikorani on the Munger/Jamui border after intelligence reports.
The encounter is still going on and the area has been cordoned off. There are no reports of any casualties as yet.
Reports suggest 17 jawans are trapped, but the police are not willing to confirm. They, however, say that reinforcements have been sent to the area.
An SAP jawan was injured in the encounter, a senior police official said. Casualties on the Maoist side were not immediately known.
